As part of TAGD's mission to serve as an educational resource to its members, TAGD is thrilled to be offering our members a free, on-demand Cybersecurity Awareness Training program certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources.

A certified training program is required to be completed annually by "employees and elected and appointed officials who have access to a local government computer system or database and use a computer to perform at least 25 percent of the employee's or official's required duties," according to Tex. Gov't Code § 2054.5191. If you're not sure who needs to complete this training, please consult with your district's legal counsel.

    Complete the following steps:

    1. Register your district's participants here - no payment is necessary for TAGD members!

    2. Receive an automated confirmation email that contains a link to the training video.

    3. Distribute the video link for registered participants to complete the training independently, or show the training video at your next board or staff meeting.

    4. Watch the training video, which is about 40 minutes long.

    5. Complete the post-training assessment, and get 7 out of 10 questions correct.

    6. Receive your completion certificate from TAGD via email.

    7. Self-report your district's compliance by August 31, 2024. Click here to view information and forms related to reporting.

TAGD is excited to announce a new webinar series offered in partnership with our friends at Texas Ground Water Association! Drilling Into HR is a series of four lunch-and-learn webinars focused on effective management of an organization's human resources.

    • April 23 - Top Ten Mistakes in Employment Law
    • May 28 - Workplace Harassment
    • September 25 - Employment Policies & Performance Management
    • October 23 - Hiring Do's and Don'ts

These webinars are offered FREE OF CHARGE to active TAGD members and TGWA members as a service to lift up the entire groundwater community. Anyone attending all four webinars will receive a certificate of completion to show their commitment to advancing their education. Self-reported continuing education credits may be available - please check with your licensing agency to confirm.

Our esteemed presenter will be Sarah Glaser, Principal and Employment Practice Group Chair at Lloyd Gosselink Rochelle & Townsend. Sarah's practice goal is to help business and governmental entity clients comply with the law, treat employees fairly, and stay off the witness stand. She believes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and she enjoys conducting training like this to help clients be proactive. Sarah has practiced law for over a decade and has been listed as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star and a Top Austin Attorney for several years running. She holds a law degree from the University of Texas and a bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Learn more about Sarah here.

IMPORTANT! To register for the webinar series, complete the following steps:

    1. Register your organization here by clicking on the yellow "Register" button to the left - no payment is necessary for TAGD members!

    2. Receive a confirmation email that contains a members-only link to sign up for the webinar itself. You may forward this confirmation email to others in your organization who will attend. You will also have the opportunity to note any additional viewers (like if you show the webinar on screen in your board room).

    3. Anyone wanting to view the webinar must sign up using the GoToWebinar link provided in the confirmation email

    4. You only need to register here once. For each subsequent webinar, you'll be sent an email with the new GoToWebinar sign-up link to save your space for the next session. Once you've registered here, you may attend as many or as few webinars as you'd like.
