Welcome to the Cibolo Center for Conservation field trip add on

registration event portal!

Start your Texas Groundwater Summit experience with your boots on the ground and your hands in the water! You don't want to miss out on this immersive, hands-on experience at the Cibolo Center for Conservation, where science meets stewardship in the heart of Boerne, Texas.

  • Led by David Touchon, Land Manager, and Sarah Vergara, Research Scientist, trace the journey of approximately 460,000 gallons of water as it flows through Cibolo Creek and disappears underground into the Edwards-Trinity aquifer complex.
  • Observe macroinvertebrates, learn about the power of prairie grasslands, and leave with a deeper understanding of the connection between regenerative land practices and groundwater management.
  • This field trip is designed for those who are curious and ready to experience stewardship through the lens of the Cibolo Center for Conservation.

Details you should know:

  • The field trip is only eligible for registered Texas Groundwater Summit attendees, as this will occur the day before on Monday, August 18.
  • Field trip attendees will meet at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort Windmill Motorcourt at 9:30am. Transportation will be provided to the Cibolo Center for Conservation in Boerne, TX and back to the hotel. Expected end time is 3:30pm.
  • Lunch will be provided at the center thanks to our sponsor, Post Oak Savannah GCD!
  • This is an outdoor event, so please dress appropriately for the August heat -- light, breathable clothing is recommended. The field trip includes a walk along a nature trail, so comfortable, closed-toe shoes are strongly encouraged. Flip flops are not recommended.
  • Don't forget to bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day!
  • Cooling towels will be provided thanks to our sponsor, Guadalupe County GCD.

Cancellation Policy: Due to limited capacity and advance coordination with the Cibolo Center for Conservation, cancellation requests for the pre-conference field trip must be submitted in writing to summit@texasgroundwater.org by Friday, August 8 to be eligible for a refund less a $15 administrative fee. Cancellations received after August 8, as well as no-shows on the day of the event, are not eligible for a refund.

Special thanks to our field trip sponsors!
