As part of our mission to support and educate our members, TAGD is pleased to offer a free, on-demand Cybersecurity Awareness Training program developed specifically for GCDs. This training is certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) and meets the annual requirement outlined in Tex. Gov't Code § 2054.5191.

Who should participate in the training?

According to the statute, training is required for employees and elected or appointed officials who have access to a local government computer system or database and use a computer to perform at least 25% of their official duties. If you're unsure of who qualifies in your district, please consult your district's legal counsel.

Next Steps

Only one person from your district should register for the training.
After registering, you'll receive an automated confirmation email with links to the training video and post-training assessment. Both links must be shared to all required participants.
All participants should watch the training video, complete the assessment, and answer 9 out of 12 questions correctly to receive a certificate of completion from TAGD.

District Self-Reporting

After all participants have received their certificates, a district representative must submit a compliance report to the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) by August 31, 2025.
