Winter 2023 Regular Business Meeting
and optional GCD Boot Camp: Elections+Taxation

January 31 @ 1:15pm to February 1 @ 11:00am
(Elections+Taxation Training takes place on January 31 from 9am-11:30am)
(Legislative Committee to meet after the meeting adjourns on Feb 1)

Join us this winter in Pflugerville, an Austin suburb, for a regular business meeting and speaker series. In addition to usual business of the Alliance, members will elect their new Vice President and Secretary, receive the TAGD Annual Report, and learn about the new GCD Communications Toolkit. An included speaker series will bring participants valuable and timely information - view the agenda HERE.

The Legislative Committee will meet after the business meeting adjourns on Wednesday, February 1.

Optional Add-Ons

TAGD is proud to host a fourth module of our signature GCD Boot Camp where participants learn the ropes of how GCDs operate. This module will be offered from 9am-12pm before the business meeting on January 31, and will include two topics that have frequently been suggested by TAGD members: elections and taxation.

Elections for GCDs: This session will provide an overview of election timelines, requirements for candidate filing, required forms/paperwork, conducting your own election vs. contracting with County for election services, cancelling elections, and practice pointers and pitfalls.

Setting the Tax Rate: This session will cover the roles of the Comptroller/Appraisal District/Tax Assessor and Collector; outline notice and hearing requirements, timelines, and how to calculate the tax rate under both Chapter 49 and Texas Tax Code; discuss strategic considerations in setting the tax rate; and explore the relationship between setting tax rates and adopting a district budget.

The cost of this GCD Boot Camp is $50/person.
Lunch is not included. The hotel's onsite restaurant, The Bistro, will be open until 1pm. There are also many restaurants within a short driving distance.
